The story

One of our founding goals is to support our motherland. Since the crisis in Cameroon’s English-speaking regions began in late 2016, thousands of people have been killed and hundreds of thousands displaced, and many children have been separated from their parents. The number of orphans in the Northwest and Southwest has grown.

So in 2021 we decided to support orphanages there with clothing, shoes, books and food for December. Helping one or two orphanages is small compared to the need, but it is the start of a new dawn.

Phase 1: collection

Our Clothing Drive, launched on our first anniversary in July 2021, collected clothes and shoes from members, friends and families in Calgary.

Phase 2: sorting and packing

Members sorted everything and packed it into barrels for shipping to Cameroon.

Phase 3: delivery

December 23, Southwest. The iMotivate Cameroon team visited Saint Joseph orphanage in Bokova with a bag of clothes from the barrels. Our members’ donations also bought rice, salt, groundnut oil, potatoes and drinks to make Christmas memorable for the 27 children living there.

December 28, Northwest. The team travelled from Buea to Bamenda with the second barrel. The orphanage there had received an eviction notice and was building a new home on land donated by the chief of Mankon. Our members’ donations paid for 19 bags of cement toward it.

Thank you to everyone who gave. Your donations and advice went a long way.
